Employee Notice

Updated Date: 4/10/2020

Time: 2:00 p.m.

Dear UMS Employee

United Mailing Services’ corporate office along with your own managers have put together a message that we’d like to convey to our staff.

First and foremost THANK YOU!!!  You have all put in a lot of hard work these past few weeks and we want to make sure each one of you knows that your management staff recognizes and appreciates all of your help.  In gratitude for your dedication, beginning when you punch in on Monday April 13, 2020, UMS will be applying an Essential Employee Premium (EE Premium) of $2.00 per hour to all of our employees’ pay for the next 4 weeks.  This premium will be applied to all of the hours that you are punched in at work during the April 30th and May 14th payroll periods. Please note that this premium is only applicable for hours you actually are at work.  It does not apply to hourly rates for paid vacation, holiday, or other paid time off that may be applicable

Our safety remains our number one concern. Your management team meets daily to discuss issues and review guidelines from the CDC, WHO and Department of Homeland Security. Recently the CDC changed its recommendation that people should wear face masks in public or at work when social distancing is hard to do. We obviously notice that some of you already feel comfortable wearing some form of face mask, in following this new recommendation we highly encourage the rest of you to follow this new recommendation to help keep us all safe.

We will continue to practice the current cleaning procedures we have in place. We’d also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to:

Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds

Maintain as much social distance as possible from your co-workers and when outside of work

Continue to work as cluster teams as much as possible

Continue to clean your work station or vehicle after use

Limit the grouping up during breaks and lunches

Continue to follow the “Safer at Home” guidelines when out of work

Please use courtesy and if you sneeze or cough do so into a tissue or cover your mouth and nose in your elbow

Another reminder that UMS’ policy on employees who may be experiencing the below symptoms should notify us immediately and should stay home:

       A fever

Shortness of breath and or difficulty breathing

       Excessive Coughing

UMS as a business is now in a good place due to the federal government passing some very good laws for small businesses. Your corporate management team has worked very hard to stabilize UMS in these unprecedented times. At this time your jobs are safe and business is good. I assure you we will continue to work hard every day to maintain this success, so we can avoid layoffs and furloughs like so many other small businesses are facing.

Finally, thank you all again for your hard work and dedication, it has not gone unnoticed.  UMS is an essential business in our economy and we couldn’t continue to operate without you.

Sincerely,

Jim Kolb and

Your UMS Corporate Management Team
